5 Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks
March 24, 2020

Spring is finally upon us, which means it’s time to give your home the TLC it deserves after the cold winter months. Here are 5 things you need to focus on in your home to have a successful and productive spring cleaning session!

  1. The Fridge Home to a delicious assortment of food, your fridge can quickly become a messy place. It’s very important to clean both the interior and exterior of your refrigerator to avoid a build-up of germs and food remnants. Start by removing interior shelving units and washing the surfaces using a soapy cloth with warm water. Once completed, the exterior of the fridge can be wiped down. Allow the fridge to dry before putting items back in.
  2. Windows Throughout the winter season, there can be a build-up of debris on your window, sills and window frames. Having clean windows brightens up any space and can have a transformative effect on a room. Begin by removing dirt and dust in surrounding areas with a vacuum or brush – this will prevent unwanted dirt from entering and mixing with cleaning materials. Apply glass cleaner to the window and begin cleaning using a microfibre cloth. Once completed, allow the windows to naturally dry to avoid streaks. Tip: for the most effective results, clean your windows on a dry cloudy day!
  3. Cabinets and Drawers Begin by removing surface dust with a cloth or duster, this will help ensure that there is no buildup once the water and cleaning product is applied. Combine a solution of vinegar, warm water and dish soap, and begin wiping down the exteriors and interiors of your cabinets and drawers, including drawer pulls and door handles. Once completed, take a fresh cloth and submerge in clean water to remove the cleaner from all surfaces. Finish off by drying all surfaces with a clean cloth or towel.
  4. Microwave It’s time to remove those microwave stains once and for all! Place a large microwavable bowl containing 1 cup of water and a sliced lemon in your microwave. Place the microwave on high for 3 minutes and allow the solution to boil – this will create a lemon-fresh steam and result in a seamless wipe down process. Allow the solution to cool down before wiping everything down.
  5. Furniture Begin by moving furniture away from walls and areas where all the dust bunnies can hide. Cleaning the surrounding area of your furniture is just as important as cleaning the furniture. Be sure to vacuum the vents and baseboards. Before you vacuum the furniture itself, make sure you switch to the correct vacuum nozzle. Using the appropriate attachment for cleaning your furniture ensures that there won’t be any damage caused to your furnishings!
