Activities to Do in and Around GTA this Summer

Activities to Do in and Around GTA this Summer
July 29, 2020

Now that most regions in Ontario have officially entered Stage 3 of the reopening plan, there are various attractions and parks in the GTA that you can now enjoy with your family. Remember to wear a mask in indoor public spaces and practice social distancing as much as possible! Here are some activities to enjoy in and around the GTA this summer:

  • Scenic Safari at the Toronto Zoo

Take a tour around the Toronto Zoo in the comfort of your own car! The Toronto Zoo recently launched Scenic Safari , an exciting experience where you can see the Zoo from a whole new perspective as you drive on staff-only roads, through the Zoo site and the lion cave. You can even listen to a guided audio tour so you can learn about the animals as you drive through the different areas of the Zoo. Keep in mind that this is a time-ticketed experience, so tickets must be pre-purchased in advance online!
  • Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit

Be immersed in 600,000 cubic feet of stunning projection animating the illuminating mind of Vincent Van Gogh at the new Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit in downtown Toronto at 1 Yonge Street. This exhibit features Van Gogh’s famous works such as Mangeurs de Pommes de Terre (The Potato Eaters, 1885), the Nuit étoilée (Starry Night, 1889), Les Tournesols (Sunflowers, 1888), and La Chambre à Coucher (The Bedroom, 1889). You can either walk through the exhibit with a timed admission, or drive-in and see the show from inside your car!
  • Catch a Movie at the Drive-In

Watch a movie under the stars and embrace the nostalgia from back in the old days! There are a few drive-ins in the GTA that are open such as The 5, Starlite and Stardust. Make sure to purchase your tickets online in advance and get there early so you can have a great spot near the screen!
  • Visit a Lavender Farm

Enjoy a day trip with your family to the lavender farms near the GTA! Spend the day outdoors basking in the sunshine and enjoying the calming fragrance of lavender and the picturesque purple hued landscape. Terre Bleu Lavender Farm is open for the summer; however, it will only be offering limited tickets with specific time slots to ensure safety and social distance practices are in effect. Tickets are released on a weekly basis, so make sure to keep an eye out on their website!
