Fun Activities to do this Spring with Your Family in Toronto and the GTA
March 14, 2020

Winter is almost over and with the warm weather coming, now’s a great time to get outdoors and bask in the sunshine. Here are some events and activities for you and your family to do in and around the GTA this month!

  1. Spend the Day at High Park High Park is famous for its stunning cherry blossoms that bloom during the springtime! Back in 1959, Japan presented 2000 Sakura trees to Toronto on behalf of the citizens of Tokyo. The trees were planted in appreciation of Toronto accepting relocated Japanese-Canadians during World War II. You can find most of the trees around Hillside Gardens, and a few by Duck Pond. Although you won’t be able to see them bloom until late April to early May, there are still plenty of things to do in the area. Did you know High Park is Toronto’s largest park and is recognized as one of the most significant natural sites in the city? Spend the day enjoying this 400-acre property and go on a walk through the trails, go fishing or cycling, visit the High Park Zoo, and so much more!
  2. SpringFest Toronto Looking for the perfect family activity for March Break? SpringFest Fun Park is Toronto’s ultimate March Break destination for all sorts of family fun. SpringFest offers an indoor park with the latest in children’s entertainment, games and activities. It features over 25 mechanical and inflatable rides as well as a variety of food vendors. This event runs from March 16th until the 21st at the Better Living Centre, Exhibition Place.
  3. Bronte Creek’s Annual Maple Syrup Festival Attention all maple syrup lovers! Head to Oakville this month for some springtime fun at Bronte Creek’s Annual Maple Syrup Festival. The exciting festival focuses on the history and culture of maple syrup in the area. Don’t miss out on the fresh maple candy, maple taffy, wagon rides, guided tours and farm animals! The festival runs from March 14th-22nd, and 28th-29th.
  4. Visit the Centennial Park Conservatory The Centennial Park Conservatory is located in Etobicoke and features 12,000 square feet of gorgeous plant collections in three glass greenhouses. The main greenhouse contains 200 varieties of tropical plants such as palms, crotons, gingers, hibiscus, orchids, bromeliads and fruit trees. It’s also home to different types of animal life such as turtles, birds and goldfish. The park outside also offers a number of amenities and activities, such as a BMX bike area and disc golf.
  5. Hiking in Dundas Valley Conservation Area The Dundas Valley Conservation Area is one of Ontario’s most spectacular national treasures. Located in Dundas, Ontario, this 2,950 acre conservation area includes Carolinian forests, colourful meadows, cold-water streams, geological formations, rare plants, birds and wildlife. Pack a lunch and some litter-free snacks and spend the day exploring the rich natural environment.
